Hiroki Yanagisawa
Writer, Japan-Overseas coordinator, editor, translator, planner, ex-chemical engineer.
I was born in Tokyo in 1978 and moved to Hong Kong in 1990. After attending St. George's School, a military school (I had to call male teachers, "Sir", ), I moved on to the US and A to study chemistry at Lehigh University. (We will have a casino right next to the campus by 2009.)
My first job was a chemical engineer at some Japanese plastic company. After 19 months of hard polypropylene-ing, I moved on and became a freelance writer, media coordinator, and translator.
Currently, as a writer, I write entertainment and foreign news for AERA English magazine / AERA Magazine / Weekly Asahi Magazine, design related news for Shoten Kenchiku Magazine, food related for Shibata Shoten Publishing. I also work with open house inc.,a leading sustainable design/eco design company, as a overseas correspondence.
As Japan-Overseas coordinator, I act as an agent/coordinator/planner to exchange talent/product/information between Japan and overseas.

ライター／日本ー海外間のなんでもコーディネーター／エディター／翻訳者／プランナー／元ケミカルエンジニア
1978年で東京で生まれ、親の仕事の都合で1990年に香港へ。先生を「Sir」と呼ばなければならないSt. George's School Hong Kong (香港に駐屯している英国軍の息子・娘が通う学校だったため)を卒業し、米国へ。Lehigh Universityという2009年にキャンパスの隣にカジノができる名門校(?)に1996年に入学。
化学を4年間みっちり勉強し2000年に卒業。
最初の仕事は日本のプラスチックメーカーの研究所。ケミカルエンジニアなる職業。19カ月間のポリプロピレンまみれの生活のあと勢いで会社を辞め、成り行きでフリーランスのライター、日ー海外間のコーディネーター、翻訳者に。
ライターとしては主にAERA English、AERA、週刊朝日にてエンタメや海外ニュースをカバー。AERAではネットをはじめとするデジタル面の戦略を担当。デザイン系は商店建築、食系は柴田書店の雑誌で活動。たまに博報堂が出版する雑誌「広告」にも出没。
また、サステナブルデザインの先駆者とも言える会社、open houseでも海外関係の業務を担当中。
コーディネターとしてはコミュニケーション、企画のエージェントとして日本と海外の間に立ち人材・モノ・情報などの交流を促進。
