Hunt for Creative Talents/Expressions, Design Festa

One stop to Meet Up Japanese Illustrators, Artists, Performers, Painters, Musicians.
Design Festa is a place to meet up a bunch of amateur/professional Japanese creators. It's a biannually-held exhibition, consisting from a live stage, exhibition booth, performance stage, etc. Each creator pays fee for an exhibition space (JPY18,900 for 3.24m2/day for other spaces, check here.) and she/he is literally free to do anything you want -- you can sell your works, conduct performance, etc.
EDGY JAPAN made a visit to the 31st installment of Design Festa, which was held on May 15 and 16, 2010.
The venue has been traditionally held at Tokyo Big Sight, located in Odaiba. The 31st Design Festa allocated 2,600 booth, performance show space, mini theater stage, live stage, and restaurant space, attracting over 8,500 creators. (Including creators from 22 countries abroad.)
Since the number of booth is overwhelming and takes ages to check out everything, EDGY JAPAN suggests you to simply walk randomly and if something interesting catches your eyes, make a stop and check. (EDGY JAPAN admits that most of the works are amateur-ish and not worth mentioning. But some of the works were quite outstanding, so keep your eyes wide open.)
Design Festa's strength is its diversity in its creative expression. Here's some of the creators that caught eyes of EDGY JAPAN.
Live performance: Tolchock Dinner Show

Random performers.
Live painting. Huge canvas is allocated at the site and each painter paints whatever she/he comes up with at the scene.
Fashion show.
Finally, booth.
One of the past edgy talents, Mika Takada was exhibiting her pieces.
The next installment, 32nd, will be held in November 6 and 7 2010 at Tokyo Big Sight. The organizer is calling for artists from all over the world. If you are interested, access here.
