power of china from an linguistic perspective (edgy china)

So, yesterday (October 1st, 2009) was the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China. Impressed with the firework in Beijing and Hong Kong? Or the parade? From an edgy perspective, China's edginess, or the power of its country was found on this particular TV program.

This is an interview of the military officer from the English Channel of the CCTV, the state-owned cable station. What's so surprising is that they are all speaking, very very affluent English. This particular officer, Colonel Zhou Bo speaks with a slight touch of British accent.
