Ever wondered skiing or snowing during the summer season? Come to Japan.
夏にスキー／スノーボードをやりたい！ なんて思ったことは？ さぁ、日本に行こう。
Your destination - Gassan, Yamagata Prefecture, located 315km (195m) north of Tokyo.
そんな人のための目的地ーー東京から北に315キロの場所にある山形県の月山だ。

Because of its heavy snow fall, Gassan Ski Resort begins its operation from April to mid July -- making an ultimate destination for hard-core skiers/snowboarders.
月山スキー場近辺は積雪が多いため、ゲレンデのオープンは4月で7月中旬まで滑走可能。ハードコアなスキーヤー、スノーボーダーの愛する場として知られている。
Let's see how the place is like.
どんな様子か見てみよう。
From car park. See some white stuff up on the mountain? That's the place to be.
駐車場から。遠くに見える白いモノが雪で、ゲレンデ。
After you get changed to your gear, you've got to do some hiking. Still, makes you wonder if you can really ski/snowboard under this situation.
着替えた後はまずハイキング。この光景を見ているとホントに滑れるのか首をかしげたくなる。
TIme to get on a lift. But ... where the hell is snow? You have to carry your ski/board when you are on board.
リフト乗り場。......雪は？ スキー板／ボードは担いでリフトに乗る。
A view from the lift. Skiers/snowboaders assure a lift passenger that you can really, really ski/snowboard.
リフトからの景色。滑っている人がみえることから、一応は滑れるんだなと安堵感。
After getting off the lift, more walking. Looks like a pilgrimage.
リフトを降りた後も多少歩く。なんか「巡礼」みたい。
After 5 minutes of walking, finally the snow.
5分の散歩の後、ようやく雪へありつけた。
Not the best snow, but it's quite an experience to snow in June.
雪質はベストではないが、この時期に滑れること自体が興味深い経験。
